Fresh Windows install[edit | edit source]
From Xomm[1]
0. Prepare a bootable USB, using either: - Microsoft Media Creation Tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 - Rufus (if you want to use a specific ISO): https://rufus.ie/
00. (Optional) Boot and set up Windows to check hardware functionality, before doing SSD swap. You can skip the Microsoft account by not connecting to WiFi.
000. (Optional) Replace the SSD, using Phawx's video as reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=305lBSL9WS0 - Use JIS bits instead of Philips (size 000) if possible to reduce risk of stripping screws. Be careful with spudger to avoid scraping plastic off.
1. Connect USB, then power on. If you installed a new blank SSD, it should boot into it automatically.
If you are clean installing over an existing Windows install: Mash F7 while booting to access the boot override menu, select UEFI: <your USB drive> to boot into it.
2. Follow the prompts to perform a Custom install. If you are installing to the original SSD, select the second largest partition. You can also delete the largest partition and extend the primary partition. (You can also do this later in Windows.)
3. Check and run Windows Update, restarting as needed until no updates remain.
4. Check Device Manager for any devices still missing drivers (yellow mark). Download or transfer the driver pack to your Max (either from GPD or pins). Right click each device with a yellow mark, Update Driver. Check Windows Update for the driver first, if it fails, point it to the drivers folder (just the top level, it will find the specific driver it needs).
Note: You will also want to "update" your High Definition Audio driver to the one in the driver dump, this will turn it into the correct Realtek High Definition Audio device with the right enhancements
